Indoor Triathlon

On Saturday morning Brynn and I got up pretty early and headed to the Saint Francis Gym (Fitness Plus) for their annual Indoor Triathlon.  Since it's still so cold outside, it's all indoors and it's pretty cool.  They swim in the gym's pool, then they bike on stationary indoor bikes, and then run on the gym's track.  It's fun to run around and watch everyone (it's called a sprint triathlon because it's pretty quick..they only do a small amount of each event) and Brynn was pretty enthralled watching Daddy compete.  Ryan works out and trains with a group of five guys, and they were all competing against each other.  There was quite a bit of hilarious trash talking going on before the race.  HA!

And they are OFF!
They go in waves of four people, since they swim in the lap pool with four lanes.  So Ryan and three of his
training partners were all swimming against each other first.

Jason (Ryan's older brother) and Ryan
After the swim it was on to the bikes!  They had to ride on the stationary bike until the "meter" (what do you call that thing?) said they had biked 5 miles.

As each guy finished their five miles on the bike they ran up to the track and started running.  They had to run 2 miles.

Uncle Jason was in the lead...

Followed closely behind by arch rival and younger brother Ryan...HAHA!

And for the first race in quite a while...see picture below...the YOUNGER BROTHER WON!  HA!  I'm sure Ryan won't let Jason live it down until the next race.  =)  It was pretty close...he got him during the last couple of laps and only beat him by like two seconds!

Getting ready to cross the finish line.  I think he looks like he is GLAD it's almost over. =)
Brynn loved watching the whole thing.  She was so funny because for several days before the race I would tell her how we were going to watch Daddy be in a race and he was going to swim, bike, and run.  I would say "What is Daddy going to do first?"  She would say "swim ina waderrr, wet!"  (He's going to swim in the water and get wet.)  Then I would say, "and then he's going to ride a..." and she would say "bike, wet."  (For some reason she was really consumed with the idea that he would have been swimming in the water!  HA!)  And then she would say "run fass."  We talked about what we would yell during the race and she would yell "GO DADDY!"  It was so cute.  However, the day of the race she was so timid about it, she would say really quiet "go daddy."  =)  Ryan said he heard her one time, but it was like she was shy and didn't want to say it out loud.  HA!

YAY DADDY!
We are proud of you!
Then while other people were finishing up the race we had some time to kill so we were watching people on the track and also playing with some workout equipment nearby.  It was a hoot!  We also had to ride the elevator (she loves those) but for some reason she kept saying she wanted to ride the "choo choo train!"  WHAT?  When Aunt Sarah and Ansley got there, she kept telling Ansley about the "choo choo train"...funny girl!

We worked on our abs...

Lifted a few weights...

And tried out some exercise equipment.
We got to hang out with Charli and Ansley while we waited for the awards...

COUSINS!

Yes, I know Brynn does NOT match.  She brought this purple shirt to wave around while we watched the race,
and then decided later she wanted to wear it.  So I obliged...=) And we looked quite interesting...

First place finishers in each age division...
Ryan finished second overall.  A 15 year old kid smoked everyone and won the whole thing! HA!

The training guys...
Oh these sweet boys...without them I would probably get AT LEAST an extra hour or two of sleep every morning.
They work out SO EARLY...I can just hear the sound of Ryan's alarm...YUCK!

But you gotta love 'em!  They are really a GREAT group of guys!

Ansley was modeling Uncle Ryan's swimming goggles...

Then of course Brynn had to try them on too!
It was a fun morning of cheering on Ryan and all the guys!
