Nursery Pictures

I think Brynn's nursery is finally done!  Most of the nursery was done before we had her, but since we've gotten newborn pictures taken and 3 months to use the nursery, I thought I'd post about what it really looks like right now.

The walls are a light teal...kind of similar to the color of the "Tiffany" box.

Most of this wall is just a closet...then there are some memo boards.  Originally I thought I'd use the boards for pictures, but since I have this new obsession with bows I think they might take over!

Moving to the next wall...above the changing table we added pictures of me and Ryan with Brynn (some of the newborn pics) and my favorite new thing...the shadow box with the gown we brought her home in.  It makes me want to cry how precious that little thing is.  We also have this tiny little sleeper that she wore a bunch in the hospital that I wanted to put in the shadow box but it wouldn't fit.

I love this chair!  I wanted one from Pottery Barn but since those things cost almost $1000 between the chair and slipcover, I found this one on walmart.com that looks so identical!  Would you believe that's a pink slipcover on it?  The slipcover is made for the chair and it fits like a glove!  It is amazing!

The crib!  We just took the bumper pads out because she has started moving around in her crib so much.  One morning she had seriously turned 90 degrees!  (So you can see the bumper pads are just sitting next to the crib...guess we should find a better place for those).  Then above the crib is the tree with the owls.  Mrs. Linda (remember her from the pillowcase dresses?) made most of the owls in the nursery.  We stole the branch out of someone's yard and sealed/painted it.  Putting it up only took about a gazillion hours...HA!

Last wall.  My friend Emily made the diaper cake and I just can't take it down because it is too cute!  We have a basket by the door that we have some toys and the diaper bag in.

Well, now you've seen Brynn's little nursery!  A big thank you to all of our family and friends who helped us with ideas for the room or putting things together.  We couldn't have done it on our own, and it has been a wonderful room for Brynn!  Here's to many more years of fun in this room!

Blowout!!

How can someone be having this much fun...

                                                             And be laying in THIS???

HAHA!  I leaned my hand under her to move her and felt something wet...then I tip her over and see brown...EVERYWHERE!  I had to run upstairs and get the camera!  How did the poop go entirely up the back?  AHHH!  Good thing her poop is still just runny...and good thing that the play mat can be thrown in the washer...oh the joys of motherhood! =)

Early 4th of July

Tonight is the Patriotic Service at our church.  My brother and sister-in-law and several friends sing in the church choir and we are excited to go listen to the music.  They even have the nursery open for the little ones!  My favorite part is when they sing the special song for each branch of the service.  The veterans come up to the front during their song.  I used to be embarrased because my mom would get so emotional during that part, and now I'm the same way!  It just really gets to me, in a good way.

Brynn is all ready to go!  We are getting out our Fourth of July clothes a week early.  One of my best friends and college roommate Alicia's parents sent this super cute little outfit for Brynn!  Thank you Leimkuehler's!
Looking patriotic!

Happy Early Fourth of July!

Happy Birthday and Anniversary!

Yesterday Ryan and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary!  A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my 26th birthday and today is Ryan's 29th!  Wow...lots of celebrations. =)  I found these pictures on the computer...how time flies!  Sorry...some are kind of blurry.

Tomorrow we are going to play golf together at Bent Creek (my first time playing there...it's a little more "big time" than the normal course we play on, so let's hope I don't look like a moron!)

Running Errands with Cutie Patootie

As Brynn has gotten older and is staying awake longer, it is so fun to take her to run little errands.  (I still haven't done a big grocery run with her though...that makes me nervous! HA!)  We had to run by the library, the post office, etc. so we got all dressed up and ready to go.  I thought she looked so cute in this little bow that I had to stop and take a picture...and then I decided we needed to run another errand...stopping by the "bow" place to buy more bows! HAHA!

Ready to run errands with mama!

I think she would have fun if we sat her in front of a blank wall...haha!  I love this little thing to pieces!

After my bath...
Daddy is such a good hairdresser!

Happy 3 months Brynn!

Brynn is 3 months old today!  Here are some things we want to remember/special things about month 3!
  • She is still nursing well and I can't believe I've actually nursed her for this entire 3 months!
  • We think she weighs slightly over 13 pounds.
  • She is still wearing size 1 diapers because we have a couple packs left, but she is ready for size 2 anytime.
  • She has laughed out loud several times this month.  I wish it was for longer because it is ADORABLE!
  • She smiles and talks/coos everyday.  It is adorable.  Most of the times it sounds like an owl "who-who."
  • We are still dealing with the clogged tear duct/matted eye thing.  We can put eye drops in every 10 days and then have to take 10 days off.  She wakes up almost every morning with a matted left eye.
  • She loves her activities mat (especially the octopus toy) and loves to lay on it and smile at all the things hanging from the top.
  • She has started doing tummy time several times everyday.  She is getting much much better at holding her head up and actually seems to enjoy tummy time.
  • She has found her fist!  She loves to suck on it...I swear she tries to put the whole thing in her mouth.
  • She still really likes getting a bath.  And now she likes getting lotion on, getting changed, etc.  (She used to cry during that part).
  • Most days she nurses at 7, 10, 1, 4, 7, and 9:30.  She has been consistently sleeping from about 10:30ish to 7 when we get her up.  We are so thankful for that!
  • Sometimes when she wakes up early from afternoon naps I will take her for a drive...I like to go get a Starbucks caramel frappachino and drive around and look at houses.  =)  HA!
  • I think she has gone through several little growth spurts this month.  She would nurse 7 times a day instead of 6.
  • She is much more awake and alert than before.  She stays awake about 40-45 minutes after she nurses...smiling, playing, looking at books, etc.
1 month

2 months
I'm 3 months old today!
(I think we should have taken the picture a little closer...she almost looks smaller than before, but trust me...she seems SO MUCH BIGGER!  It is amazing!)
Brynn -

We love you so much!  It is amazing how bonded we feel to you in just 3 short months.  You are so sweet and such a good baby.  You are pretty much happy all the time!  Daddy says his favorite time with you is bath time and when you lay on his chest and look at him and smile.  Mommy loves to look at little books with you, lay you down and talk and smile with you, stroll/run errands with you, and put lots of BIG BOWS on your head!  You are incredible and amazing and we can't wait to watch you continue growing up!  We are already praying for you and for your future.  You are such a gift from God!

Happy Belated Father's Day

Sunday was Ryan's FIRST Father's Day.  We spent the morning and some of the afternoon driving home from Springfield (my lovely husband left his hanging clothes in the hotel and we didn't realize it until we were out of Springfield...that only set us back an hour! HA!)  But the rest of the afternoon and evening we were able to spend some family time with Brynn and also celebrate with both his dad and mine.

Watching Ryan with Brynn is such an amazing thing.  He is truly a GREAT daddy and Brynn is one lucky little girl.  I am such a daddy's girl, and I know Brynn will be too.  So...Happy Father's Day to my husband, my awesome dad, my sweet father-in-law, and my grandpa!  We are so lucky to have you in our lives and are thankful for the Godly example you set.  And without further ado (how do you spell that word?)....little Miss Brynn and her daddy!

What a good way to get in tummy time!

I was trying so hard to capture the smiles...

I love you Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Wedding Weekend in Springfield

This past weekend Ryan and I went to Springfield for one of our best friend's weddings.  Ryan was a groomsman in Chris's wedding.  Chris, Ryan, Guthrie, and us girls were pretty much inseparable through college.  We spent tons of time together at sporting events and hanging out at our apartments.  We lived at the same apartment complex as the boys...just about 10 seconds away!  We've seen each other several times since college, but it is always so much fun to get together and catch up.
Ryan and I left on Friday morning and got to Springfield around lunchtime.  After eating we had to go to Chris's old high-school football stadium because the boys had been making bets on how far they could throw a golfball...the boys never change!  Guthrie was the winner.  =)

After shopping and hanging out the rest of the day, we drove out to "Tuscan Hill" for the rehearsal dinner.  This was also where the wedding was going to be the next day.  I wish I would have taken a picture of the front of the house.  Basically, Tuscan Hill is a large estate/house that the owners have converted into a venue for weddings.  The wedding was in the front and the reception was in the back.  The house and grounds were GORGEOUS!

Here is the back of the house.  The owners converted the top floor into a gorgeous salon and area for the bridal party to get ready.  The owners live in the basement and you can even rent the main floor for dinner parties, etc.

Besides my wonderful hubby, this is one of my favorite guys ever!  This is one of our best friend's...Andrew Guthrie.  I LOVED being able to spend time and hang out with him this weekend.  We hadn't seen him since last summer.

Throwing washers at the rehearsal dinner.  On the left is one of our best friends, and the groom...Chris.  Then his friend Jordan, and then Ryan.

BEST BUDS!  3 of my favorite boys...Guthrie, Chris, and Ryan

After the rehearsal we all went bowling.  It was fun getting to know some of the other people in the wedding party.  Then the boys went out to do "boy stuff" (and came back with some pretty interesting stories) and I went back to the hotel and got a WONDERFUL night's sleep.  =)

The next morning the boys went to play a round of golf, so I slept in, took a hot bath, and ordered room service.  The order took so long (which didn't bother me because I didn't have anything better to do) that the guy added a bunch of stuff to my order.  I had ordered off of the kid's menu and he thought there were a bunch of hungry kids in the room so he kept apologizing and asking if they wanted extra chocolate milk! =)

I wish I would have taken a picture of the ceremony because it was beautiful.  This is us at the reception.

This huge tent was set up in the back of the property.  I loved all the lights twinkling...so pretty!

You could also eat and dance down by the pool...isn't this so pretty!  Can I have this house???

They had a photo booth set up and gave away flip-flops as party favors...what a good idea!

Sorry this is blurry...we all held sparklers as the bride and groom made their way out.  And by the way...I realized I never took a picture of Chris and Ashley...whoops!  Her dress was GORGEOUS!

I was seriously afraid we were going to catch them on fire during this part...maybe that's why they were running so fast! HA!

Can you tell I'm excited...these are my favorite kind of sparklers...I felt like a 5 year old again!
I have to tell one last story about Saturday night.  So after the wedding we got back to the hotel pretty early...I'm thinking...wow I'm going to get a GREAT night of sleep!  Well...I'm almost asleep about 11:30 when I hear this fire truck's alarm going off.  Normally, the sirens seem to get quieter the farther away they get, but this one kept going off!  After like 3-4 minutes it woke Ryan up.  He gets up and looks out the window and comes back to bed.  Immediately the FIRE ALARM in our hotel starts going off!  AHHH!  He starts yelling about "some flippin' kid probably pulled the fire alarm" when the hotel's alarm system goes off and says "The Springfield tornado sirens are going off because there is a tornado warning.  Please evacuate your room and come to the first floor conference room.  If you are unable to leave your room please take cover in the bathtub."  (Like that's going to help when we are on the 8th floor!)  So...my heart starts racing and I'm scared of the storm, but then I'm also so annoyed that my great night of sleep is going to be interupted by this!  So we (along with the entire hotel population) start racing down the stairwell and go into this conference room of the Double Tree hotel!  People are half-asleep, they have their kids in pj's (and I'm so thankful Brynn wasn't there because I really would have been freaking out), trying to call people, etc.  We found Guthrie and Jordan and just hung out in a corner of the conference room until the tornado warning passed.  So...everything was fine but I didn't really sleep too well after we finally got to go back upstairs.  Of course that would happen, though, right?

It was A WONDERFUL WEEKEND with some of my favorite people!  We missed Brynn so much, but it was great to get away for a little weekend.  We can't wait to see our college friends again soon.

"Sew" Crafty...(get it?)

I have been "sew" crafty lately! (HAHA! And just for the record...I thought of that one by myself!)  Last night was the second annual girl's craft night and we made a super cute Fouth of July wreath.  I can't believe I forgot to take my camera.  When it is completely finished I'll take a picture of it.  Then today I went to Pam's house (Ryan's mom) because her friend Mrs. Linda was going to teach us how to make these cute "pillow case dresses."  My sister-in-law has been dying to learn how to make these...seriously for probably 2 years!  So today we learned how and we made Brynn and Ansley matching dresses!

Sitting around the breakfast table...sewing away!  I actually have a sewing machine that I haven' t used in several years, but I didn't bring mine.  I used Pam's.  I spent half my time nursing so I can't take credit for this.  Pam actually made most of Brynn's.

Pamaw and I made this!  How cute!  It is supposed to be more like a dress right now, and then maybe in the winter when she is bigger she can wear it as a shirt with leggings and a long-sleeve shirt underneath.

Sarah's 2-year dream of learning to sew is finally coming true!

Ansley ate blueberries and was a great little model!

Pam, me, Mrs. Linda (THANK YOU LINDA!  By the way, she is the amazing woman who made the pottery barn look-alike owls in Brynn's nursery.  She is AMAZING!), and Sarah

The girls trying on their new dresses!  SO CUTE!

Me and Sarah with the girlies...notice my glasses.  I'm still wearing them because evidentally pink-eye likes me and enjoys crusting my eyes over each morning even though I've been on drops since Sunday.  Also notice Ansley's hand on Brynn's foot.  She wanted to hold Brynn all by herself and we told her she couldn't, but that she could pat Brynn.  She grabbed her foot instead.  HAHA!

It was so fun learning how to make these and MAYBE I can do it on my own sometime soon!  Thanks so much Mrs. Linda for teaching us!

Pink-Eye Girls

Today (Sunday) I woke up and couldn't open my right eye it was so matted shut! UGHHH!  Last night I felt like there was something in my eye and I kept messing with it, thinking my contact was messed up or I had an eyelash stuck in it.  Little did I know it was the beginning of PINK-EYE!  I guess I got it from Brynn.  Since birth she has had a clogged tear duct and her eye gets really matted.  I still don't really understand it all, but somehow the pink eye bacteria and clogged tear duct go together.  I think I got lax about massaging her eye and not washing my hands good enough afterward, and must have messed with my eye, and voila...end up with PINK EYE!  So this morning as soon as I was done nursing I headed to the immediate health care clinic and paid $30 for them to tell me it was pink eye (duh) and then $10 to get eye drops...the EXACT SAME EYE DROPS Brynn is using! HAHA!  I should have just saved my time and money and used my child's medicine (or is that illegal?) HA!

We both woke up with one eye matted shut! HAHA!
We recently got Brynn this little tummy-time mat.  She really likes it and I think she is getting so strong and really trying to hold her head up!  Here are some action shots...

Look at me guys!

Look at that head control! HAHA!
