Chicago Vacation - Day 1

On Sunday, May 29 we left bright and early for a little family trip to CHICAGO!  Ryan and I had both been a couple of times but never with the girls and we thought it would be a perfect place to go for a few days before we headed to Bolivar for my cousin's wedding.

The drive isn't bad at all...we kept saying we wondered why we don't come here more often.  It's not even 6 hours away...but SO MUCH FUN!

We hot-wired our hotel room and got to stay at the DRAKE, which is a REALLY nice, historic hotel right at the beginning of the Magnificent Mile.  We were surrounded by Louis Vitton, Gucci, oh...and THE AMERICAN GIRL STORE!  HA!  We were about a block from the Water Tower Place and the Hancock Observatory.

Princess Diana had tea at the Drake and stayed there so I was a little nervous it was going to be too fancy for us and our kids, but it was GREAT!

After we got checked in, we parked our car about a mile away and left it there for the trip.  We bought a week-long subway pass and headed to a place to pick up a big tour bus.  We started the trip off RIGHT with a BIG BUS TOUR OF THE CITY!  SO FUN!

The weather was GORGEOUS!  It was sunny and beautiful!

After the bus tour we hopped off to Giordano's pizza and the girls got to try deep dish pizza for the first time..YUM!

Walking back and enjoying the beautiful views!

The fancy palm room of the Drake...

We had a GREAT first day!
