Back in February Brynn competed in the Super Kids Race Day at the SEMO Rec Center. She did it last year and loved it and so we asked her if she wanted to do it again. She was a little nervous but she said she wanted to "if Ansley and Charli will run too." HA! Our friends the Ewasko's were there and Ansley and Charli and all the grandparents came to watch so she was really excited.
When we got there she checked in and loved watching all the bigger kids "warm up" and stretch.
She started running around...I bet she ran a mile before her race!
Our Parks and Rec mascot...he's at a lot of stuff around our town and Brynn was excited to see "Playmo" the "creature." Emory kept looking at him from far away and waving and making this sound like "take me over there!" but as soon as we'd get two feet from him she would FREAK OUT. =)
More stretching...I'm not sure what this move is called. Also notice her socks...she said they "had to show out of my shoes!"
The cheering section has arrived!
Brynn is in the 3-year old division and she had to run an entire lap around the indoor track (so 200 meters). She kept saying "is that a long way?" There were two heats, and she was in the second one, so she kind of watched the first group. Then she was up. They started them in a "waterfall" start (wow, that takes me back to my track days) and so Brynn kept staying on the outside for half the race. The dads were kind of running with them and Ryan finally got her to run on the inside lane about halfway through. HA! About halfway through she passed the girl in front of her and raced down the last straightaway. My friend Kristi was taking these with my phone, and I was at the finish line videoing!
She was flying! HA!
A few minutes later after they figured out everyone's times from the two heats they had her little award ceremony! She WON!!! Go Brynn!
It's so weird to wonder what your kids will enjoy and be good at once they get older. I really think track or cross country could be in her future! =) Our little speedster!
