I wanted to keep everyone updated on how Dad is doing now. He's about a month post-op, and has been home about four weeks. He is doing SO WELL...sometimes I look at him playing with Brynn or eating supper or watching football and think "wow...I can't believe he is really doing this right now." It is just amazing what ONE month can do. Right after surgery when he was having so much trouble and his kidneys weren't doing well, etc. I just watched him in that hospital bed and wondered if he would ever be back to normal Dale...and I am so pleased to say that for the most part HE IS! He still has his "pick line" in and gets an antibiotic infusion everyday at the cancer center. He should be done with that in the next week or so. He has started cardiac rehab and feels like he is getting stronger everyday. He is up to walking about 20-25 minutes at a time. He still can't pick Brynn up or drive, but he should be able to do those things in about two weeks. He says all the time how grateful he is to everyone for their prayers and encouragement. He has been back at church and said he even lifted his hands to one of the songs! He obviously still has a little ways to go, but his progress has been remarkable. One thing we'd ask you all to continue to pray for is wisdom. After sending everything to the lab, the doctors STILL do not know what bacteria or virus caused his terrible infection. His doctors have said there is a small chance (about 3%) that the infection could come back. His doctors said he could consider whether or not to see a specialist to try to figure out what caused this, in the event that it ever came back. Please pray that he would be given a peace about what to do in the future, and obviously that his infection NEVER come back. We thank you so much for praying for him!!
